In this class you will complete projects that fall largely within two categories: Selected Works and Sustained Investigations.
Selected Works account for 40% of the AP Portfolio score, and focus on artworks that “demonstrate synthesis of materials, processes, and ideas” using 2-D art, 3-D art, or drawing skills (depending on the selected concentration).
The Selected Works are intended to show off your skills, creativity, and mastery, and should be your absolutely best recent work. The pieces can be related to one another, but do not have to be. You will submit five works total in the Selected Works category for the portfolio, along with a written statement indicating the ideas, materials, and processes used in each work.
Your Selected Works can be any work you've completed in the past two years. They do not have to have been made in this class (or any other class, for that matter), but they should reflect your own ideas and skills and the materials used in the works should be consistent with the portfolio you are submitting.
An official rubric and submission criteria for the Selected Works section for all 3 AP portfolios can be viewed here (pp. 2-4).
Submit five works that demonstrate:
2D/3D/Drawing Skills (depending on type of portfolio submitted)
Synthesis of materials, processes, and ideas
For each work, state the following in writing:
Idea(s) visually evident (100 characters maximum, including spaces)
Materials used (100 characters maximum, including spaces)
Processes used (100 characters maximum, including spaces)
